Moley,

I'll take the Masayoshi Katana off your hands, just don't tell Mrs MB, it'll do a nice wedding anniversary gift for her

I'll take the Tony Long, I want a light blade with a bo-hi and I have some replacement stuff.

Caveat...(Meaning BEWARE BUYER)

Mole bach... Thaitsuki needs Tsuka re-wrap with Good quality cotton Tsukamaki to be functional.
Perhaps also a Lemon/vinegar etch + polish for cosmetic enhancement.

Lloydie...Tony Long is a nice light blade but needs a NEW good quality wood Tsuka carved out and re-built with New Same/Menuki and qualityTsukamaki... It would then be an excellent blade.
The Saya would do at a pinch, but not for iaido as it catches a bit when returning blade to scabbard.

In my experience:
I'm not good enough to be able to "carve" a new Tsuka core or to do a wrapping with Tsuka ito. The tsuka ito replacement I had done prifessionally on a "Gunto" cost about £100.
That's why I'm letting these go.

So if you want to change your minds ?

no - it's a "project" for me rather than a necessary acquisition. So I am happy to go ahead on that basis.  This is probably something for the retirement years   :D :D :D

hey Liam - what about forging some tsuba ?

I will throw in a pair of Menuki (Flying bird) a Fuchi and a Kashira. (if you want them)

Looked at the Tony Long again today.
Really Really NICE blade...
Shame I'm not good enough with my hands to do it up...
Should be a STUNNER if done up properly.

Here's a link to Tsuka Ito..
Tsuka Maki Ito binding
Bear in mind "Whipping "a handle (as an old friend of mine used to call it) is quite difficult.
Stretch the ito first for several days by hanging a weight on to it.
A good trick after is to iron it with a steam iron...the ito shrinks and becomes even tighter.
