« on: July 08, 2008, 12:02:22 AM »
Anyone got any suggestions for possible bunkai for the opening moves of Bassai Sho ?

...and I'm not looking for "Bo Kata" nonsense  :D

Opponent grabs your right hand with his right hand

Trap his hand with your left hand

Shoulder charge forward upsetting his balance and turning your body

maintain improve grip on his hand/arm with left hand get your shoulder / right arm under his shoulder

Throw opponent over as in judo

(Just a suggestion)

Thanks Moley - quite similar to one of my "concepts" - what do you think about possibly turning the hand grab into a wrist lock and then as you move forward either attack the front leg with a knee strike or stamping kick to the shin/instep - and then (keeping the trapped arm high) turning it into an elbow/arm break/dislocation over the shoulder instead of the throw..... ?

That's exactly the move I would have posted, except the kick would be to the knee, forcing the opponent down as you twist the arm up.

Cool - I must admit that when I said "shin" I was thinking the side of the leg below the knee but didn't know that that bit was called

Phew - thought this thread had been forgotten  :D
