Well, thanks guys, I have downloaded and ran all of the programmes suggested, cclean removed 130mb's plus, again, after windows clean up !!

Am running de-fragler now, and will look at the other one next.

I you want to use any of the "sophisticated" options make sure to read the docs. - also - please don't be put of by the "confusing" graphics of the defrag gui - it work very well it just looks as if it's "broken" due to it's more detailed resolution.....Honest.....

...the screensaver option is great for background defragging if you leave your PC on at all....

Thanks for your post Rhys, I downloaded and ran autoruns  how do I know whihc ones to delete etc? there are so many listings?

Click on the Logon tab, this will filter the list to display startup entries. Its usually the last two groups of entries that you need to concentrate on, usually called:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

and

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I'd advise just unticking the boxes to 'deactivate' the items rather than deleteing them completley, that way you can reactivate them later on if you need to.

Its usually pretty clear which programs each of the entries belong to. Don't touch any of the micrsoft ones, these are usually critical to windows. Same goes for your firewall, antivirus and graphics driver software.

If your not certain what an item actually does then you can right click on the item and select 'Search Online..' to do some research - it should open up your browser and find a definition for that perticular entry. However, if your still find yourself unsure about an entry is/does, then its probably best to leave it be!!  :)

JKDefrag is MUCH faster and will automatically do all disks.

So true, had time so downloaded and ran today.

Is there any (hidden) functionality to the screen saver Jimmy? I presume its just that, a screensave?

...what ? you mean other than when it's running the sceensave it knows that your PC is not in use and uses that time to defrag your disks ?  :?  :D

Jim

P.S. Glad you like it - don't forget that defragler is excellent for checking on how badly fragmented the disks are and which files are worst -also can use it to defrag specific files....
