:shock:let me do a full tilt chudan punch on you and see if you can still fight ....
Kyokushinkai still practice basics but I can't see it in these matches.Mas Oyama was famed for his punching powers ( Decking bulls etc) and I think the philosophy of 'one finishing blow' would be something these kararteka should be striving for irrespective of style, perhaps the vid is a poor example of Kyokushinkai. After all, we have some poor standard students in Shotokan too.We have all got to know what we are trying to achieve and work towards this. We've all got elements of our training upon which we should be trying to improve.
Like Sensei Eryl said on Monday 'Making mistakes is OK , it's when you don't learn from them and move forwards that is the biggest mistake.'
Dave J,
Did you scan the latest two videos? there were differences, especially in the third one, more impact, more will to score, I am confused by the different stances, is a lower stance more effective than a taller one? I would expect that to tbe the case from puching techniques, but what about kicking techniques, does a lower stance give more strength ie a grounded stance, more speed, better defence?
I simply dont have enough experience to comment, but I am very interested in the differences between styles.
