New Gi needed - Advice please
« on: January 18, 2010, 12:10:59 PM »
It's time to get a new Gi. The Kamae International suit seems ok but it's in a European cut not Japanese cut. There is a Giko heavyweight suit in a Japanese cut but it seems very long in the jacket and i'm not that tall (5,10ish) so I don't want it to look like a dress! Advice please.

Big guy like you - Kamakazi Kaiten Europa. Fantastic quality and lasts for ages. Very popular with the larger gentleman 8-)

Sovereign is quite a bit more expensive if memory serves - but it does have a longer jacket - best suited to those who don't have "Buns-o-Steel" like I have

Europe is a very good "middleweight" Gi - I train regularly in the two I own and also a cheaper and heavier weight America which is also good but took some breaking in to soften it up.

Many thanks for the advice!
I have gone for a Kaiten Kamikaze Emperor. It says on the site it is generously cut so hopefully I can do away with the 'open shirt' 70s porn star look (mustache and plumbing tools optional) which I seem to always have by the end of training nights. 8)

The more you sweat in training the less you bleed in battle,a fool says I can't, a wise man says I'll try.
