I keep getting an error message on start-up concerning RUNDLL, this has been for a while and has not caused any loss in performance, but over the last 2 days a second RUNDLL error message is appearing and is causing my pc to shut down and re boot.

I have run a virus scan and all's ok, is there a free register cleaner that I can use to identify and fix these??

MB

PS I can't remeber the exact error message since I am accessing the forum from work useing a proxy website.

MB - is the error with RUNDLL/RUNDLL32 itself or is it just that RUNDLL is complaining about something it can't find to run at startup ?

RUNDLL is normally used to run other programs on your behalf during PC startup.

Make a note of the two error messages you are getting firts an then try the following procedure....

To check on the basic stuff that's being started in this way do the following :-

Click on Start,> Run, and then type in msconfig and press OK.

Go to the Startup tab and you should see a list of prigram entries being started at PC boot.

Hopefully the two you are having problems with will be listed and you can try unchecking them in the list - now save the new config and reboot.

The problems could be down to some corruption of software you have installed so if it's stuff you still need then you should reinstall it and if it's stuff you don't need the use the control panel Add/REmove Programs to try and unistall the "broken" software properly.

Let us know how you get on. Any problems post back the error messages you are getting.

Thanks Jim,

I tried that and it solved one of the error messages, but I can not find the other...

The first error message was
RUNDLL
Error loading  C:\windows\system\fsuuexna.dll

I found this after msconfig and now it's gone on selective start up, the error message that appeared on the week end came while the PC was off line but on aver night, the new message reads

RUNDLL
Error loading jyku.fjo

now I have a shut down... I'll re open......

MB - looks like your PC has been infected by malware - see this link for info on your first error messag and alink to a removal tool - try and clear that up and see what happens - if still having problems post back the new messages.

Still having probs with this, I downloaded the malware removal tool that you suggested Jimmy, and I had to subcribe for it to clear the jyku-fjo.  This worked a treat, but it still shuts down after the error message.

I did some googleing, and I can stop the shutdown by going Start-Run-and typeing shutdown -a.  From what I read on line, a lot of forums say that it's a blaster worm, so I downloaded the scan/fix for this and it did not find anything, or the sasser worm.  I have ran the PC Dr and AVG in safe mode and gone through the processes in task manager but still can not find anything.

Now I do know that there is a problem because when I go on-line after a while a new window opens and direct to another site at random, the PC then freezes and I have to end task.  This takes for ever and the PC runs like an amstrad until I give up and re-boot.

Getting p!$$&d with it now, any ideas.

Have you got 'system restore' enabled MB? If so turn it off and run all the scans again.

In a stroke of utter genius someone at M$ decided to make system restore an area 'out-of-bounds' for virus checkers (and probably malware scanners as well). Virus/malware writers of course then wrote their scripts to install the virii into this safe area.

Doesn't sound like you have much option but to try and backup your data and then wipe and reload all the software  :?

Unless someone has another suggestion ... ?

Would you trust a machine that's been rooted Jimmy? TBH I don't think I would!

LOL. Good answer.

MB, unless Jimmy cleans up any root-kits you may have go straight for the backup-format-reload option.

Try this

when you turn your computer on press F8 repeatedly, until you get a list of choices and select 'SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING' - you should be able to stay online without your computer shutting down.

once your online download rogue remover

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Antivirus/RogueRemover.shtml

see where that gets you
