Has anyone tried those 'run-your-netywork-over-the-power-cables' doobries? Any good? Any bad points?

hi Huw,
Yes got three running constantly in the house. One is linked to the popcorn hour as I wanted a stable connection rather than wireless. Also plug my work laptop into one when working from home - much faster

Mine are 85Mb/s although the throughput is around 65Mb/s when all three are active.

Yep - I've been running three to connect the household PC's for a couple of years now - but I don't think that anything like the 65Mb/s is actually achievable but it's still much faster than Wi-Fi -very lucky if you get 40Mb/s and possibly less if lots of noise on your ring mains.

I just ordered three 200Mbit ones. If they're half as good as the reviews their getting they'll do me fine Smile

Set-up the first two last night. So far so good. 'Set-up' involved simply plugging them into the wall sockets and connecting up the network cables. Simples. They're claiming to be connected at over 100Mbps which will be great if it's true. Certainly seems very responsive when talking to the Popcorn Hour. Will be interesting to see how they work with Aled's 'gaming' computer.

My son has no issues online gaming with either the PC or his Xbox360 over the 85Mbps models Huw with the link being shared by two other PC's on Homeplug too Smile
