peculiar evening's training
« on: March 16, 2010, 07:16:23 PM »
I've tried to evaluate my second session's training last night, am I in a muddle or what. here goes.
things that occured.
1. partner work with a 5th dan, completely missed second block in sanbon kumite then lost all timing, kime?,will, you name it.
2. with another dan grade same steps, I made contact with a jodan punch(happy) but slowed down with the chudan punch, why?
3. with the same partner totally missed second block against chudan punch(sounds familiar),
4. massive muscle spasm in the side, needed first aid to help with releasing the spasm in order to breathe normally.
if you wish to comment constructively or have a giggle then please do so. :)

Been there, seen it done it !

When I was young, I was like you. I was strong, knew I was strong/young/fit/fast. and was used to beating people by being stronger /faster.

When I kime'd my chudan punch against your block, at exactly the right moment last night, instead of the shock being generated from your block to my punch, I managed to reverse the process and generated the shock to your block. Result being that because you weren't in shimme, the whole body muscle system was upset. To compensate, your Latissimus dorsi said "Sod this for a game of soldiers" and went into spasm.
Did this once to Lloydie on a block, I don't do it very often because of the damage it causes.(With you it wasn't intentional but accidental because you get my adrenaline going, being so BIG,YOUNG,STRONG,and DANGEROUS.)

Gave me a great idea for the final lesson though, and I taught the class a lesson on generating "kime" without
force = mass x acceleration. Whereas mass and acceleration are irrelevant compared to interaction with immoveable object = floor.

You should have been in that lesson B&D,if you look at the Dan grades using the floor it looks so natural, but it's sooooooooooo hard :(.I was trying to do it in the 6th Form room today,my friends asked me what are you doing?(but in not such a  poilte way!)when I said 'Oh I'm trying to connect with the floor' you should have seen their faces, they thought I was off my head!
The more you sweat in training the less you bleed in battle,a fool says I can't, a wise man says I'll try.

Yes I remember it well!!  The most perfectly timed age uke to a very strong attack.  I felt I had been hit with a baseball bat and couldn't raise my arm for a minute or so.

Sooooo.........Moley.....was it intentional or accidental??
