An excellent day all round - well done everyone.  Annest, you were outstanding - one of the best Shodan gradings I can remember.  Sensei was very complimentary about your grading!  =D> =D> =D>

Annest.  Fantastic. Best Shodan Grading I've seen in a long time, well deserved.

While were at it, might as well give a mention to Alex  =D> =D> =D> Thanks Alex for doing some last minute coaching with Ben, and for looking after Annest all day.

ALSO, for keeping Iwan in such great shape, he also did very well, it just goes to show that every athlete needs a balanced diet of nutrients, vitamins and carbs.

Not sure that the cheungy special fills this criteria though............. :?

Again a big big thank you to all the helpers that made the grading work like a clock.
For me!!To be able to gain a belt was a wonderful felling!!But to do it at the same time as your granddaughter is like magic.
What a good day.
Tim.

article & pic sent to Bangor & Anglesey Mail and the North Wales Chronicle:

LOCAL STUDENTS  IMPRESS TOP JAPANESE KARATE MASTER

At a recent event held in Caernarfon Leisure centre, world karate master Sensei Masao Kawasoe 8th Dan, came to North Wales to judge the strength and quality of students of the Welsh Traditional Karate Federation (WTKF).  Over a 100 students from all over Gwynedd and Anglesey underwent the gruelling tests for their next belt.  The grading tests were very tough, with a high standard of technical skill and fighting ability demanded of all the students.  At the finale of the grading all eyes turned to 12 year old Annest Kettle, who was testing for the coveted “black belt”.  A black belt in the WTKF is a hard won achievement, and demands an exceptional commitment to training regardless of age.  From the very beginning of her grading Annest demonstrated this commitment and clearly showed that she was “taking no prisoners”.  Her techniques were sharp and powerful despite being against larger opponents over continuous rounds of hard fighting. In awarding Annest her shodan black belt, Sensei Kawasoe remarked on the high quality of the local students of the WTKF and of Annest in particular.
