The South spends 5 times as much but on paper does not have superiority.
Can anyone explain this?
South Korea has good quality kit - but less of it. North Korea has stacks of Chinese made Russian knock-offs. The military balance is probably in favour of the South. HOWEVER North Korea has hundreds, possibly thousands, of artillery pieces within range of Seoul and up to 13,000 pieces ranged along the border. If it did kick off it would probably be very messy indeed. Expensive technology still doesn't stop simple, basic shells

But worry not. Sarah Palin yesterday reassured the world by declaring "Obviously, we've got to stand with our North Korean allies."
