laptop wont switch off

My laptop wont switch off- if I switch it on the mains it just shows "logging off" symbol and doesnt shift. It wont switch off until battery runs out other if not attached to mains. What can I do without breaking it?

Normally if you keep the power on/off button pressed down for 10 seconds or so Siw it will force it to shutdown - next time you reboot you may get an error but I normally just choose "start windows normally" from the options and off it goes :)

ok will try pressing the button for longer on it tomorrow. Failing that - I do not know.cheers

...if that doesn't work then just remove the laptop battery - works every time ;)
