Last night - second lesson
« on: April 01, 2011, 07:59:33 AM »
Took a gamble with last night's second lesson. Dedicated all of it to Bassai Dai. Concentrated on each section and picked two important points to concentrate on in each of these sections. Those of you there last night please comment.
1. Did the lesson work?
2. Was it worth it ?
3. Did you get anything out of it?
4. Was it physical enough?
5. Was it boring ?
6. Should we do this sort of thing again?

I saw the video last night, it does come from a height.
last night was good, not too much explaining just enough to get the message across, plenty of practice, and what is important for me personally - entertainment value was excellent
Telling a man to go to hell and making him do it are two different propositions.

1. Yes. I loved the system. Honestly, I am using a similar approach with the other katas. For the places in the kata that I find particularly difficult, before the respective combinations of 2-3 elements I say in my mind the thing to which I need to pay attention. I can understand why not many people would boast doing this, but I have a simple mind, so I need a simple system until I learn to do the katas automatically. :)

2. Absolutely. Of course, the objective measure of how much it was worth will show over the next training sessions/ months, when I do Bassai Dai again, but at least for me, I think this system works very well.

3.  Yes. The first step of the ladder:
Bassai Dai - Level 1: get all these things right from start to finish.
Bassai Dai - Level 2: get all of the above right + some new things... etc.

Now I have a first target towards which to work.

4. Yes

5. Not at all. Although I must admit about myself, that after watching High Kick Girl, one of the things I liked best was the Tekki Shodan training. "No. One more time." That's my concept of cool. 8)

6. Yes, please. :D
