Hubble bubble toil and trouble.
« on: July 07, 2011, 10:45:50 AM »
Since we have so many people off with injuries, thought that I would start a thread on people’s lotions and potions for common injuries and ailments.

I remember Kev used to stink like a bag of chips with his Jack and Jill remedy of soaking his arms in vinegar to help with the bruises.

Moley swears by Scholl cracked heel repair to guard against cutting between the toes (does not work for me), but what about others.

Personally, I think that you can’t get much better than Tiger Balm, the Red one is great for large muscle pulls, just make sure though, that you scrub your hands thoroughly before visiting the bathroom   #-o.

The White Tiger balm is not as hot, this for me works well on small injuries such as neck pulls and minor strains.

I have tried the Nurofen and Voltarol gel, but did not find that this worked as well.

As for controlling the pain, I find that 2 ibrufen and 2 paracetamol tablets are OK, these allow me to carry on training.  I can not take Voltarol (diclofenac) orally since it upsets my stomach, which is a shame.

So, what about everyone else?

I can not take Voltarol (diclofenac) orally since it upsets my stomach, which is a shame.

I find that the 100mg Voltarol (one a day) is much easier on the stomach than the 50mg (three a day). I don't find the various gels work for me.

I also use red Tiger Balm - but I'm a total amateur in this field compared 'balm master' Julian - who probably bathes in the stuff :)

kwan loong oil - similar to tiger balm but it comes as a liquid which doesn't stain. Smells like tiger balm as well.
I find it sorts out quite a bit --aching calf muscles and also use it to clear the nasal pasages if i (or the kids) have a cold.
(I have to admit I may use this quite often as it cheers me up and makes me feel ready to train)

Also have the red tiger balm in my bag, but it does stain clothes so I keep limited to leg muscles.

I use the ibuprofen and paracetamol combination as well, but usually limited to one of each.
When something really hurts i have a limited stock of 600mg Ibuprofen tablets in my bag.

I find that if I hit other people before they hit me it usually help keep injuries at bay.

The problem is, sometimes I injure my limbs when hitting other people .... maybe I should just let them hit me .....hang on , let me think that one over ........... errrrrmmm ..... no - plan 'A' is best , hit them fast, hard and first  8)
