Love my Ubuntu.. great
But
May have to go back to M$

Don't know what to tell Huw... He will be devastated that I am turning "Traitor" to the cause.

All because I bought a new printer...a Kodak.    Kodak do not support Linux. There is no software and the Kodak programme won't run.
I managed to upload a driver that Linux had built and it prints in B&W, but it doesn't scan and the colours are totally wrong.
Do a search and you will see that this problem is universal and there are NO SOLUTIONS.

Either seppukku  or take the printer back to the shop and tell them it's not working! If you tell them that the scanner faulty they probably won't check it - hardly worth the hassle on a cheapish all in one. Get a Canon or HP instead. I don't personally know of any Canon's or HP's that don't work with Linux - but a little research doesn't hurt when buying hardware to use with Ubuntu.

Or of course you could go back to Windows. I remember how much you LOVED Windows 7  :D And of course you'll need anti-virus and all that stuff you've probably forgotten about now. £30 a year for Norton 'Internet Security' IIRC. Just a thought, but in two and a half years the cost of anti-virus alone amounts to a brand new printer/copier/scanner.

Temporary solution. Complicated, but it works.
Networked Pat's P.C. to connect to Kodak 5250. (Pat's P.C. is not wireless, but it's connected by ethernet cable to Router so it can access via Router.)
So if Pat want's to print, no problem.
If I want to print in quality colour, I save document as PDF, e-mail document to Pat's P.C. and print via that.
