A question for Gizmo really. Is there a way to assist your body to recover from something like Blackpool or Edinburgh?

I went down to JJB this morning and found that I couldn't train anywhere near as hard as I did last week. O ni'n wan fel cath i roi o'n Gymraeg !! I have rested pretty well since the event - only light training in the dojo and no JJB -  so I thought I'd 'get back to normal' today. No chance - I was really struggling.

Are there any viable, sensible strategies that we can emply to shorten recovery after something like Edinburgh or Blackpool?

Diolch,

Huw

Huw - I can't imagine that a competition like Blackpool would be that physically taxing (when compared to a reasonably hard training session). Are you sure that you're not coming down with a virus or something.

The Edinburgh course is obviously going to take more of a toll. However if you had taken it easy for a week afterwards and eaten normally(to replenish your glycogen stores) and rehydrated effectively (including salts e.t.c.) then there should be no ill effects.

Don't read too much into an isolated incident of tiredness.

Its emotional stress, much more exhausting then physical. You got flu this time last year Huw, relax...

Yes Mam.

Seriously your both right, I probably have some virus or something hanging around. I guess I need some proper recovery for the ribs as well. I'll take it easy down the gym till I'm better :-)

Lloydie,
You should have seen it; Azzy was a wild man, no regard for anyones safety, especially Huw's.

Have you seen the wildlife programmes where the old lion, wounded and ill is savaged by the young buck of the pride?  Brings tears to your eyes does'nt it.

Fair play though, Azzy did allow him to leave the Dojo to lick his wounds (we'll have to knock this out of him  ).

I hear blocking has just come back into fashion again Huw, fancy trying it?

Well done Azzy, I recall you telling me of your "cunning plan" of preparation for the Blackpool 2006 Kumite, if i remember correctly you said:
"First Bones, Then Pioden, Then Mole Bach - Then I'm ready!"
Good to see a man with a plan - hope the last stage is as successful

Now, now Lloydie - I was using a special technique called torso-uke where you cleverly use the rib-cage to smash the attackers fist. If I remember correctly it's a move pioneered by your good self in Blackpool a few years ago.  :P  :P

Yes, I test-piloted the technique a couple of years ago - surprised that you are still using it after the data showed that you could win the fight, but that you would drop half-dead on your next cough or sneeze  :D  :D
