Any ideas for social events in the club ?
I don't mean our usual Apre grading re-hydration therapy but rather things that will get us together to discuss things, get to know each other better and improve our karate knowledge.
Things like Cinema trips or film evenings?

Where ?
When ?
How ?

I agree with the idea that we should have club social events...

Cinema - Llandudno because Bangor is rubbish
Film / DVD martial art nights
Resteraunts
and PUB nights..I thought id add this before Huw

I think Tuesday, Friday or Sundays are the only possible days

any would be fine with me..

I like Gizmo's idea of combining the discussion with eating out - a banquet at Harry's would definitely get my vote.

Wonder if there is anywhere (eg back room of a pub) we could set up a DVD and watch some of the martial-artsie films?

Ive got a P.C. with TV out and a good 5.1 audio system for it...

All we would need is a 28 inch or more TV with decent Furniture for 2 hours of Martial Arts Films...Or possibly a good action flic

Or Harrys ... I dont mind

Im not gonna go there....

Anyway what I meant was

DVD player in my PC
with TV out and a good 5.1 audio system for it...

so I could connect a surround sound system up in 10 minutes BUT
we would need a 28" TV to watch DVDs on

Thanks Moley - I thought it was just me!  All I suggested was finding somewhere that had a TV, preferably a DVD (but we could bring our own) and had lashings of beer available to add to the night.  Didn't expect this technickal stuuuff

still fascinated by Icy's assertion that Huw has

How does she know :?:  :?:

I'm amazed that you don't know what I'm on about! (Especially you Azzy!)

OK then and beware, as those of you who are receiving training on the seki site administration tomorrow will see the brace of 19" !!!

I was only referring to the size his monitor/screen

I hope to catch up with you guys for lunch, but have loads of shopping to do

Can we avoid space travel this time or at least anywhere which is a bridge-head for an alien invasion force  . It would be nice to go somewhere for a meal and chat. Perhaps somewhere where the music system is not a stranger to the music of Dean Martin and other classics

Not sure about the Dean Martin thing - who is he anyway?? (I bet Mole Bach knows  )

But I would second Gizmo's and Mad Frankie's request for a nice meal.  :D

Chats about technique, performance etc would be good, I think that is it sometimes difficult to understand where we are going wrong, I mean, I may think that I'm doing a technique well, but others could tell me how I could improve. With a club as big as ours, it is hard for the instructors to get around everybody to see exactly how we execute kicks/punches etc. I personally would welcome feedback from any member - it is probable that those who stand next to you could give really good feedback.

Me too .... sounds like a winner. Who's arranging and for when ? Late January sometime ?

I'd prefer some Ray Charles to Dean Martin though  8)  8)  8)

Ice,
Dean Martin (so I'm told) was a crooner who all you girls went mad about.

I'm not surprised that you do not know who he is/was, since you are only VERY young (same age as me) and do not have an OLDER brother to inform you of the hits of the 50's

Ice Maiden  Who is Dean Martin :?:  :?:  :?:

We could create Dean from Seki members.  The charm of mole bach, the looks of the divine ruler, the cool of gizmo and the voice of mole. Roll them into one and what have you got :?:

Yup your right sad isnt it :!:
