Is it just me ?
« on: January 09, 2003, 11:41:11 AM »
This time last year I suffered from blisters under my big toes after training. After last night and Monday I've got blisters like 10p peices under my toes

After thinking about it for a while I reckon it might be something to do with the temperature. Could it be 'cos we can't feel our feet that we hammer then harder than usual ? Any one else suffering or had a similar experience ?

The problem I get at this time of year is cracked heels and cuts under the big toe. I have found over the years that I have to put cream on my feet regularly every morning and after showers if I do not want to suffer too much. (Cracked heels lead to not walking properly and this in turn leads to backache !)
Although I agree with Huw that it must be the temperature /time of year (mayby dehydration due to exessive drinking over the Christmas holiday), I don't think it's the dojo floor because my hands and lips are also cracking.
Best cream for all feet ailments including blisters is "Scholl cracked heel ointment" applied regularly every morning before you put on your clean socks.

huw,
You'll probably find that as there had not been any training for the past 2 weeks that the skin under your feet has gone soft. I too suffered sore feet and had I stayed for the second session on monday i'd have probably be in your shoes!!!! now.

You obviously had not been practicing in the back garden on the cold yard during the 2 week break otherwise your feet would have aclimatized to the cold dojo floor.    :D

Try soaking them in salted water, that helps. And I dont mean go and sit on the shores of the menai straits otherwise you'll have the lifeboat and coastguard out!!!!! :D  :D

a bit of useless info for you but i hope it assists

That's it exactly. If I'm going to have any trouble with blisters, it'll usually happen after the Christmas break.

Pop those suckers, dry them out, and glue them down with a generous application of Loctite Superglue 3!

Luckily Lloydy came to my assistance with some blister plasters and the usual sympathy of MOLEY helped immensily.....It must be because we worked so hard during training!!!!

I'm contributing to the "Is it just me?" subject cause where the hell else would it go?
An other wise excellent evening's training was partially spoiled for me tonight (Monday) when; during the second warm up (at the bit where we're stretching our selves - and hence faces within mm of the floor) I was confronted by a neat pile of toe nails. Presumably picked off during the previous session. Perhaps I have aoverly acute sensibilities (when sober) but it was pretty disgusting. Is it just me? I'm sure some of the other female club members would find that off-putting , and hopefully some of the men too.
Please Ban it.
I know we can't ban farting during training sssions (although the more expert fartists, clevely disguise thier accoustics[ if not aroma ] with un-syncopated "kias") but picking toenails "uck". Do it in private, and at home. Not in the dojo please. Let's change the subject now.

I found session with loads of kihon kats very usefull mole bach. Thanks.

Also, wash your gi after every session, if you don't you will simply stink! :x

Jeeze Ice
I always thought i was totally assertive
(I once threstened to pee on Comet's carpet when they really peeed me off - much more effective than all the assetiveness training bumf I teach at work)
But that'll do the trick nicely

way to go gel!

I think we two need to compare notes on the 'assertiveness' thing!!
I once go so p..d off with our Chief Exec that I said "I'd like to talk to you outside", and after getting him into the carpark, I wiped the floor with him (much to the amusement of a number of staff who were watching from the safety of their offices!).
I have also told a former Director of Nursing to stuff his job where the sun dont shine!
I can do the temper thing really well if pushed enough!

Excellent spirit Icy. Now this is what we need to get more ooooomph into training. We need to transfer this feeling into the more docile members of the club. I suggest we start with a screaming session, (Azzy will like that) then we can move on to Major sulk and finish off with Fisticuffs.
Unfortunately all your female techniques will be rendered useless against the wit and charm and animal magnetism of one member who will probably counter your moves with something like:
"Hey Babe, why the bad vibes ? Chill out babe, let's go somewhere quiet and you can tell me all about it! Pause to adjust sunglasses and look at you with big sad eyes, replace sunglasses. 8)  8)  8)
