EASY!

5 inches is a one dimensional measurement.. so even though the pine is 5 inches in length, breadth or depth, its presumably negligibly small in the other two dimensions - even I could snap that one Jimmy!

Biggest problem with Tameshigiri (Wood breaking) is expense ! The wood costs a lot of money to buy and cut to size...and all we do is smash them and throw them away.

There are however re-breakable plastic boards of varying difficulty. The black one being almost impossible to break without proper technique.
