Don't play by HIS rules !!

Don't dilute your style, your skills just because he says "Do it this way..not your way"
If he attempts to catch hold of you.. Smack him in the mouth immidiately !!
If he asks you to attack him..you bloody well must attack properly and full speed and force or you will suffer.
Don't ttack to command.. attack when you create Kyuo!
Try a Mae geri !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gedan

Shari - ask them what you are not allowed to do according to the Aikido rules.....that's the stuff that you then need to think about

If they ask you to attack slowly with that stupid downward sweep to the top of their head.. try a rising punch instead.

:D  I got there early, a little community centre in the middle of nowhere. They made me feel really welcome and very relaxed, i must admitt i was a bit nervous about it lastnight.

there were 4 men 3 black belts 1 white belt (friend Dilwyn). After a few warm ups we started, i was shown how to do forward rolls and try and come up after, i managed to get over but not up at the end., then the backwrad rolls, i didn't do well on them.

I was then shown a few basic excerises which help with the moves. After doing a few of the exercises i was told try. I  was able to get  the men on the floor with 1 hand, i couldn't believe it i had only been there about 30 mins.

From what i could gather the main dojo is in Kimmel (criminal) Bay. I have fogotten the name of the man that took the lesson  (andy i think) also  Sean a very quite man soft spoken, both teach in Kimmel, Sean teaches  the kids.

They were a really great bunch lots of laughs, yes i will go again.

Sounds good Shari.. the Ki Society club we went to wouldn't let us do rolls 'cos they were deemed 'advanced' techniques. If you go again, Tab is pretty interested in trying it out again in a better club.

i went to one lesson when some 7th dan came to the leisure centre in caernarfon. it was really good. i would go again if he came back. I think the instructor's ability and teaching style has a lot to do with the enjoyment of the lesson.

Shari,
i'm reading a book written by a Robert Twigger.....'ANGRY WHITE PYJAMAS'.......about himself and some mates who were living and working in JAPAN and desperately in need of getting fit....they took up AIKIDO...which lead them into taking a twelve month intense course used to train the riot police in japan........you can borrow it after i have finished it.(maybe some time cos theres not a lot of pictures in it !!!!).

Did anyone watch the WKF world championships held in FINLAND live on EUROSPORT this week....very good...had various practitioners from a variety of styles from all around the world.......The kata, team kata ,team and individual KUMITE was very very good...........the italians, japanese and french were the main medal takers.there was also a lot of representation from eastern europe and the middle east.........England were represented and won a bronze medal in the individual kata.
