By the same measure Jim do you think it's legal for you to purchase a sword from the states (cheaper) and to import it into Scotland?

Look for the GREEN TICK

But.. what I don't understand is that Iaito's (Blunt iaido swords) are still banned to the public?????
and these:

Ziggy Stardust's weapons

are still legal to buy

It's legal for me to buy a sword from anywhere - EXCEPT England, Wales and Northern Ireland - as far as I can tell - the problem with the Foreign Purchases is of course Postage and Customs Duty.....  :(

This instrument accordingly
changes the defence to remove the references to Japan, and applies the defence to any
curved swords made before 1954 and any curved swords hand-made at any other time
according to traditional methods.

Just had a re-read of the latest ammendment and I think  that the above paragraph is the important one - since this will surely allow any traditionally forged (presumeably not necessary to be "folded" methods ?) Katana to be legally purchased in England and Wales etc. ?

So for example - Huw's last acquisition would still be Leagl to, purchase as would any of the blades that Manufactureer produced ? - or am I missing something obvious here ?

EDIT: Thought I might as well add the link to the Sword "Guy" I mentioned  :D
