Jimmy, is this question leading then to which hip do you use to punch ChokkuTsuki Left hand when you have left leg forward in Zenkutsudachi stance ?

If so ..I use Right hip, same as if I was punching Guaku Tsuki with Right hand.

But in answer to your first question, I use both hips , ie the hip of the punching hand.

Got it in one Moley  :D

....although I was beginning to wonder if it was a KUGB" thing  :?

It seems obvious to me - especially when you describe it like you just did - however a lot of folk (at least up North ) don't seem to have the concept of Choku-Tsuki other than in Hachichi-Dachi and seem to think that with a leg forward a punch must either be Oi or Gyagu Tsuki

....so - as I do - I thought that I'd ask you guys and gals  :)

.... Oh - and forgot to mention - even when in Hachichi-Dach - some seem to think that its "same hip as arm"  :(

I still think the answer is both. Unless you're made of rubber I'm guessing most people will use their hips as a single unit. When one goes forward the other comes back. Same kind of concept as hikite as applied to punching.

Stop arguing over "semantics"

....as explained ? above I'm asking about the "dominant" hip - we'll leave such esoteric matters as "hip vibration" for another day - in a Galaxy far Far Away.......
